Talking of Strength I drove a Jag XF R Sport today (8 Speed flappy paddle Sport Auto) which was on filthy 20" Rims but the ride quality and rigidity was exceptionally good as was the handling for such a large saloon, but a lot of the Bodywork uses aluminium as the primary component of the body structure and chassis and the bodyside panel is a single aluminium pressing.

When I worked for Lola, one of my jobs was riveting and glueing the Indy car and F3000 tubs together.

Laminated alloy and ply tubs? Glued and rivetted, eh? Jumpers for goalposts Paul, jumpers for goalposts...

Ha, it weren't that far back Simon. Carbon fibre with an alloy honeycomb I reckon. Ari Lyendyk won the Indy 500 when I was there, I may have built his tub, wishbones and push rods. Unless they broke, then it wasn't me....
