Ian just rang me to ask if had any info on the following strange noise on his MY02 Boxster:
Heavy, thudding but metallic sound, comes from the front of the car ONLY after a long (90 min) drive, normally also a warm day

Can anyone help?

Is spare wheel loose, or tool kit, or has the dealer put a freebee bottle of something like window wash in the spare wheel bag ?????

Funny you should say that, I found a litre bottle of oil in the spare wheel bag last week after a 24K service, first I was pleased, then I thought are they trying to tell me something.............?

EVENS HALSHAW always leve me a bottle of window wash in the spare wheel and a tin of mints on the passanger seat, what are thay trying to tell me?

I was delighted when I found that AFN had put a free bottle of ScreenClean in the spare wheel cover.
Then not so delighted when I found they had actually charged me for it!

I' m putting it back in before the next service. (I rarely use the screenwashers, because I get all wet if I do...)

Yep, but with the roof down, if you use the screenwash, you get wet!
I keep a small spray-bottle of zymol screen cleaner dilute made up in the car and use that to get rid of the dead fly residue.[:' (]

I' ve never found i' ve got wet.

either I drive faster than you OR it' s because I' m short, though I can' t say I' ve any complaints from passangers or found the seats wet.

maybe yours need adjusting?

Hmmm.

You could be right about the moving at speed bit - I guess I probably only used the screenwashers once when stationary, and the bounce-back of a fine mist of droplets off the screen goes up and into the passenger compartment. If you are moving then they would go " over" as rain does when you are moving with the top down.
Having had it happen that once I never used them again with the roof down.
