hi guys ihav just had a strange thing happen to me with my s2 just been out for a drive around suffolk and as i was driving along the car started makeing what sounded like as if a loose fan belt wood make it was but more metalic ive checked the belts i can see they seem fine had new power sterring belt last time it was serviced and all cam/balance belts and chain and pad were done april last year only belt thats not been done is altenater but if that was playing u could the balance belt hav come off water pump car run fine no warning light gauges all seem fine

I'm not familiar with S2 issues but a metallic belt sound would worry me a little, does it increase with revs would be my first question. If so, although you said the chain slipper has been changed recently I'd take the rocker cover off and double check to be safe. Perhaps someone here with more experience with your particular model can be of more help. Good luck Pete
Could be alternator bearings, they often fail due to the belt being too tight.
