Strange Jolt

Hi all,

I have been trying to diagnose a strange issue with my 1984 944.

Running great under load but when I try to gently accelerate the car will suddenly jolt when I reach a certain point in acceleration, it will do the same when I let off the accelerator. My first thought is engine or gearbox mounts but a visual inspection and a good tug with a pry bar shows they are fine.

The car doesn't do this when I'm in neutral or with the clutch fully depressed either so maybe clutch issue?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Sounds like you clutch has given up, the original ones are rubber centred and the rubber breaks up long before the friction material is worn. It will give the classic symptoms you've described.

I did think that but I believe the clutch has been changed. I'll have to investigate further clearly!
