Stone guards

I’m about to get my car detailed to remove all the swirls etc.

When I was at the detailers yesterday he pointed out that there were no stone guards installed. Stupidly if not noticed this and there are several stone chips as you’d expect.

Anyway, the car is jet black and I’m thinking about installing gloss black stone guards over the chips to save having to get is resprayed.

Has anyone ever done this with either matt or gloss black guards
