Stereo upgrade - boy racer question (and I'm still only 54 haha)

Hello everybody

I have a 1990 944 S2 with an appallingly old stereo; it can barely get AM/FM and wants cassettes.

The thing is that I can't find any of my old TDK mix tapes, so I have acquired a Pioneer with a DAB booster (photo attached) and will be giving it to a pro to fit, both are 1 DIN.

I am told that I need an additional conversion kit to cover Porsche to Pioneer wiring.

Firstly, is that true?

Secondly, can anyone point me to a durable non-elastoplast solution?

If I recall correctly the Porsche wiring "should" be a pair of ISO connectors, one for the speakers and one for the power etc. You can get an ISO to Pioneer harness for your stereo that should work.

However, it depends how the previous owner installed the head unit you have currently. They might have hacked up the loom and patched the cables together etc. Good luck!
