Can anyone help me?

I need a new starter motor for my '90 944 S2 cab, so 1st question is does anyone have a good one they want to sell?

If not - 2nd question, does anyone know what the part number is? I've narrowed it down to either 951 604 101 or 102 and think it is the latter version of the two but not sure. With the part still on the car it's not easy to check!

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Peter, Have you thought about having it refurbished? Plenty of companies specialise in this work. Normally less than £100, new bearings, brushes and a clean up.

I'm surprised it is a 951 part number as the S2 is 3 ltr NA engine rather than the 2.5 turbo. At any rate, my PET shows both numbers with the 101 being a 1.4 KW starter and the 102 being a 1.7 KW "stronger" starter available as option code M198 and described as "starter, 1.7 KW". I imagine this was offered to customers in northern climates who might need some extra oomph for cold weather use. Looks like the only difference will be price.....
 
I've got a two month old one from an 8V I just scrapped, it still has all it's stickers and labels on it. Apparently the chap spent £200 on it then the car failed on rust!! Doh! Not sure if it's the same? Cheers Tim
 
Dear All, Thanks for all your comments and after giving the matter some consideration, together with the fact that time is against me, have decided to try local specialist to get it sorted. It's the 1st time I've used them as only got car in March but as is only a small job will give me a taster as to what they are like. Thanks again to all those who responded. Peter 944 S2 cab
