Is anyone going to this on Sunday ?

Is there a PCGB Stand etc. ?

Local to me so intending to go along if it is worthwhile - please let me know.

Ian,

I've posted the question before ( http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=111543 ) with limited response. It doesn't sound like it's going to be a big deal; but then again it is just down the road....

Hi All

Unless you go you will never know!

The organiser of this event spoke to several Directors at the NEC and was ,allegedly, assured that the Club would attend.

However the Club minutes show that this event was reported to Porsche Cars Reading as a "non official Porsche event".

I believe that quite a number of Porsche enthusiasts will be attending, just because we are enthusiasts!!!!! See you all there.

Have Fun

I have to agree with Paul. the PCGB should be attending shows like this and putting on a display and promoting the club..not snubbing anything that not been organised by us.

having said that i did try very hard to contact the organisors (Mr Greenwood)to find out more and they never bothered to return my calls or answer me e-mails. [:-]

This event is using Porsche trademarks without Porsche permission and, as such, risks legal action. The Club cannot be seen to endorse an event that is using unlicensed trademarks. Members are, of course, perfectly free to attend but the Club will not be supporting the event.

Come on. Is that not just pathetic? What else are we supposed to call a gathering of the cars we own? A red, green, white and black motoring convention? Ridiculous. Porsche should be happy to use a gathering of the cars and their owners to use as an opportunity to show us why we want to keep them, not to launch into petty and frivolous actions against enthusiasts. (oops, I used the P-word. I hope it's not going to cost me anything.....)

HI All

Mary and I went to the show.

Small but a good start, quite a good turn out of concours cars, perhaps more than were seen at Brands Hatch!

As far as we could see everybody seemed to be smiling, shame about the chips,at that price, they should have been"golden brown".

The only "logo"used was the word "Porsche" in the adverts, and it would have needed a lot of immagination to link this event with Porsche AG or GB.

With some more support for events like this and ,dare I say, Alexandra Palace, the events would be better and the Club could gain more enthusiastic members, who tend to join up when they see what a good show we can put on, whatever the size. (Does size matter?) OOPS that statement may be infringing copyrite (Renault)

absolutly agree with you Paul and feel the club needs to put a lot more thought into the appearance and quality of stand/gazebos/signage that we, as a club have at shows. we should be promoting the club a lot more than we currently do.

I've got to say it wasn't that great a show and absolutely the Club shouldn't look to be endorsing things like this without some kinds of quality check.

Amazing difference between the Porsche crowd and the BMW crowd - some serious bling and some nasty nasty cars.

The organisation was poor, it wouldn't have taken much to have separated out the Porsches from the BMWs. The clubs that were there (TIPEC had about 3 cars) looked a bit forlorn. Agreed, it was great to see that famous 930 concours car and there was an awesome ex-Prodigy (rock band) Gemballa 600 GT (993 GT2)

i wonder how many new members Tipec signed up by having a small presence there?

i know Tipec had a much more professional looking stand at Husband Crawley and i also know they signed up three new members , i think we managed to signed up 1. [&o]

Don't know about that Helen.

He was there, I had a chat with him...as for the car it looked like Bob's and he was cleaning/getting it ready etc ...for the competition!
..and it was a Bob weeks special...i.e mint!..Only it did not have his plate on it!

i understand he sold it to a collector so maybe he was asked to take it to the show and concours it for the new owner [:-]
