Sports seats

Out of interest, can the seat squab on the sports seats fitted to a C4S be adjust for height at the front and rear independantly? (allowing you to alter the angle of the squab a la the old 993 sports seat)

The C4S comes with regular seats as standard. These are electrically adjustable, fore/aft, up/down, backrest forward/recline. The up down part of the seat can be moved up and down at teh front and back separately, so that you can alter the angle.
You can have electric lumbar support adjustent at additional cost.

I believe the sports seats are a no-cost option (the ones with the additional shoulder winglets). These have manual fore/aft, manual up/down and electric backrest forward/recline. I am not sure if the seat can be tilted though.
I think this is your question, but it is not clear from the literature (I have the comfort standard seats).

You also have the bucket seats. The are manual fore/aft. I don't think there is an up/down for these and the back is fixed.
 
Thanks for that, does it look like it would be difficult to install spacers under the seat rails to achieve the desired angle of seat squab? My Aunt is really struggling to get comfortable in hers, the leading edge of the seat is pressing into the backs of her legs and causing discomfort on longer journeys (hence the requirement to adjust the seat angle). The poor old girl was only fitted with short legs as new..........[:D][:D]
 
My understanding is:

Sports seats have no electric adjustment (although I think it is a special order option), they don't have a leather back by default (although again I think you can pay extra for this), they have wings by your shoulders, and the side bolsters on the back and seat are slightly deeper (as in a few mm, so not enourmous).

The sports seats (the ones with ears) actually do have electrical adjustment.
Not much (just seat back angle and up & down if I recall) but some!

The thing is to try before you buy. I understand that those who are a bit wider across the shoulders/back than I am, often don't like them.

The GT3 seats are more extreme altogether, have no adjustment, and are fabulous!
 
Oh right thanks for that. Mine are earless so that clears that up. I'd felt that some of the cars I'd tried the seats felt kind of narrow across the shoulders but none had ears.
 
You need to try them first, as they are distinctly narrower than the standard seat.

However, if your frame fits them then they are very supportive. When new, you seem to sit on them not in them but they seem to relax to accomodate you in time - the OPC warned of this. Me, I love them as a bucket seat would be out of the question as you then lose the rear seats.

Electric adjustment is seat back angle only. Full electric is an ESO and still does not give you memory.

Any kind of nice treatment to the seat backs is an option - mine are painted to the exterior colour (midnight blue) as the car is a cabrio, which (to my eyes) looks fantastic.

I am looking to swap mine for comfort seats if of interest - they are metropole blue in great condition and only 30k miles of backside wear. Looking for same colour in comfort seats and in equally good nick. A bit of a hip problem is causing me to change (well, a new hip actually...)

presume you have already tried the sport seats??
i changed my comfort seats to sports in my c4 and found the sports too narrow for my 13 stone 6foot frame-the same problem has been rectified in the 997/987 series as they are wider to accomodate the increased girth of newer porsche owners!![:D]

just thought i`d mention in case you havent tried them
 
Thanks for the comments, the standard seats are a bit narrow for my back so thought the sports seats with the wider shoulder area would be better, will have to try them. I have Black ruffled leather at the moment. Yes have have sat in the 997 and they are much better!
 
Agree with that. The sports seats have very narrow backs which are quite uncomfortable for heavily muscled people (OK, fat) like me although strangely the bases are quite comfy.

They are about £1k each and will pretty much kill access to the rear seats, and can only manually move fore and aft so no reclining/no heated seats, thin padding so not hugely comfortable on long runs etc. however if you're going to use the car on track they are fantastic!
