Hi All

just wanted to gather any thoughts people have on the Spyder RS.

I currently have a Boxster GTS 4.0, previously owning 991.2 GT3 and a few other 911’s along the way.

absolutely loving the Boxster in terms of size, ride quality and performance if the normally aspirated engine, a really great car.

I am considering a Spyder RS, but with no luck with an OPC allocation looking at a used example. I have noticed, like the gt4 RS prices coming down a fair bit since launch with some now in the £160 to £170 and thinking it may be best to wait for a bit longer to see where these settle, particularly once in the throws of autumn and winter, maybe moving into the £140’s.

any views welcome along with any owner views on the ride quality on b roads and whether the roof is as bad as the you tube reviews suggest.

many thanks

gareth

Oddly enough Gareth, I took GF to an OPC yesterday where there was a second-hand one and suggested I would p/ex my 718 Spyder if they would take a deposit off me for a new one!
Sales guy very politely rebuffed the suggestion whilst we were stood next to it being about £30k over list. He did say they would never lose their value. Yeah, only for the privileged one preferred by the organisation!
I wonder how any of those who bought for £50k to £80k over list last year now feel?

Regards
Bill

they will drop as more and more for sale. you might miss the midrange grunt in the RS though for road use and yes the roof is pain having had a 987 one. this more so as the speed limits in the 987 was not an issue in the RS 124 mph is too easy done.
Just buy a PDK 718 SPyder and a few choice upgrades. or stay with what you have for a all round better road car. one review already said the 4.0 boxster make a better road car and feels more urgent on our uk roads.
I own all 3 be it the hard tops, 718 GTS, RS and a spyder. Not sure what the SRS offers users in the main. way way slower on track, that roof !! and less midrange grunt on B roads. You have to really want one and then it's a 3rd car.

if you liked the 991.2 GT3 why not try a 4RS at least these are under list now so you can just buy one enjoy it and part ex it for a SRS in 2 years time. I have not seen a SRS sell 2nd hand yet but prices have dropped £70k so far ! these will be at list come winter imo.
