Speedster sunglasses

Has anybody seen the Porsche Design Speedster sunglasses ?I first saw them in the March 2003 issue of GT Purely Porsche, page 51. They are listed by Porsche as WAP 075 028 13, but for some reason do not appear on the Porsche selection website, and the usual search engines have only produced scant information. From the GT photo they look bizarre! Will it be obligatory to wear them to all club Speedster meets?

[8D]just looked up the photo of the speedster glasses(page 51 march' s GT mag)I think you speedsters should HAVE to wear them.though i feel porsche should provid them free of charge(who would pay £129 for THEM.)to all speedster owners.

then the rest of us could have a good laugh!![8D]

Hi James,

Great to see your message on the forum.

I haven' t seen the sunglasses you refer too (any chance of someone posting a picture) but if they bear the Speedster tag they are sure to be incredibly stylish, exclusive, expensive and only worn by the very best people [8D]

Then again if Helens comments are anything to go by, only James would consider wearing them [:D]

James will now post again claiming that air conditioning in a Speedster was not a factory option and that my car is some kind of illegitimate child of the Speedster [;)]

Look forward to seeing you so the banter can continue James!!

James please can we have a photo of you in the sunglasses (when you find them)[8D] if you can' t find the official ones you could always stick a bit of tinfoil to the nose bit of your current ones.

Here is the much requested picture. This is a digital picture taken from the (very small) photo in GT Purely Porsche, so quality is not brilliant. They are certainly an interesting design !
Chris, there are a couple of genuine Speedsters for sale in this months Porsche Post if you feel like trading your non-standard model in !!

Do you stand by this still, having seen the picture?
I can believe they are expensive, I think the styling may make them exclusive, but what of the " very best people" ?

A cross between skiing goggles and Orange' s " hard-nosed businessman" (in their adverts).

How dense can you all be? [8|]

The tin foil is obviously to protect the Speedster driver from flying debris over their low low windscreen [:D]

But when people used to drive in leather hats and goggles, I don' t think the nose was normally protected.
If it is for debris, what about your forehead or cheeks? Why is 3/4 of your nose worthy of protection?

I think it is so that when you have your leather hat and gloves from Porsche' s accessories, this gives you enough sun protection for your nose.

Stuart,

I retract that statement and will be seeking legal advice concerning defamination of the Speedster name by Porsche cars [:D]

Chris

[:D]may be porsche should do a matching designer (cricket)box to protect you incase anything falls into your lap while driving. it' s alright for us girl' s we just have to keep our HANDBAG in our laps.

A cricket box would never do, you can' t see them (unless you drive naked).
I think a cod-piece a-la Black Adder would be more appropriate. Something in Titanium with the three gooves design, the Porsche crest on the end and the name in red letters along the length.

Just think of the admiring glances you would get at the petrol station while standing beside your car filling up.

Perhaps a matching Madonna-style conical metal bra could be made for the ladies. Not sure what it would do to the airbags in the event of a mishap though.

Rgds, Stuart.

Have found a much better picture - now there can be no doubt that they are a ' must have' accessory for the discerning Speedster driver. No doubt concours points will be deducted if owners are not wearing them.
