Hi just had my Speedster serviced by Fred Cobby of Motawerk. I knew the car was supplied by Roger Clark Cars of Narborough, found out Fred was head mechanic at time and car was purchased by the garage as investment! They never sold it on for a 2 years hence the 91 H plate the car was on when i bought it, he could not remember how much they made but i understand the original sticker price for them was about £54K.Must find out how to track the cost history?
By the way service excellent Fred really knows his way around these cars and for a 12K service with all Porsche parts came in at £320, better that the approx £850 quoted by the local OPC and then they did not know exactly the spec.Put me off using them as wondered how many of the 'technicians' deal with the older engine on a regular basis

In my experience the OPC's are highly trained on the new metal but probably wouldn't know what a Speedster was if it ran them down in the car park!
I now use La Rose based in Sevenoaks.

I would have thought that selling in 1991 would have created a loss. I think the silly money was only around for a very short period after the '89 launch.

Robert, (Daro911) who used to own Seans car may be able to shed more light on this as if I recall correctly he bought that car in 1991.

Just what i thought Chris, very surprised by the OPC experience(?). Will talk to Sean i know he has the full history
Thanks

Chris I bought my car (now Seans) 14th August 1990 with 39 delivery miles for the official list price which I think was circa £55000 .... Apparently the London dealer did a deal with the original owner who never saw the car but just ordered it from his local OPC JCT600 Newcastle and was apparently paid a mere £20K premium [:D]

The London dealer tried to retail the car for circa £125k August 89 onwards but could never put a deal to bed and as they say the rest is history when the bubble burst very shortly afterwards.

I heard about the car in July 1990 and was able to buy it for the original invoice price and a full service by the local OPC Chariots thrown in for good measure, which at the time seemed a fair deal for a delivery mileage Speedster in my ideal specification [8D]

Your right the cofee at the OPC is superb , but you pay for that in the price!!! Already been out superb morning
