Speed Championship PCGB 2011

Just seen the dates for next years championship up on the Clubs motorsport site. Lots of good stuff this side of the country including 2 dates at Loton!
However I'm pretty sure that Shelsley on July 27 is a non starter - it's a wednesday and the number of mid week events the MAC runs is very very few!

30th April Anglesey, N. Wales Sprint 1st May Anglesey, N. Wales Sprint 14th May MIRA, Warwickshire Sprint 21st / 22nd May Loton Park, Shropshire Hillclimb 5th June Harewood, Yorkshire Hillclimb 18th June Gurston Down, Wilts. Hillclimb 25th June Castle Combe, Wilts. Sprint 23rd July Shelsley Walsh, Worcs. Hillclimb 6th August Goodwood, W. Sussex Sprint 10th September Loton Park, Shropshire Hillclimb 25th September Curborough, Staffs. Sprint 1st October Prescott, Glos. Hillclimb

Brill!! With only one August
event clashing with hols I'll be doing ALL the others!!![:)]

Thanx for heads up Tony. I hope SK will be notifying all.......

Thanks for posting the dates Melv .... just spoke to MSA and for above events apparently need the starter pack and then get an ARDS Licence .....

Also a lot of talk here above about Hans (mine brand new) race suit/accessories and helmet all a bit worn ... then the car prep, have a cage, fire extinghuisher etc .... seems to be at the hands of some fickle scrutineers .... So to clarify everything is there a Club Gluide or maybe a detailed post from Motorsport spelling out ALL the requirements. I had the impression that a lot of it in this class was nod and a wink with a matter of applying for a simple licence subject to medical conditions .... ?

I mailed SK and await a reply ...

Yes, a list of Must Do's would be really helpful.

Can't do the medical for ARDS at the Motor Sport show, becasue of another Photographic Show !! []

Guys,
all the info you need at: http://www.msauk.org/site/cms/contentCategoryView.asp?category=600

If the car is road legal there is very little you need to do. You don't need 4 point belts you don't need a fire ex. Mark on/off on the ignition switch and get a timing strut. There's lots more you can do for piece of mind and personal safety but beyond, helmet suit and gloves it's optional - down load the championship regs from the club motorsport site for everything else follow the above link.

Think you have been mislead here..........to compete in sprints and hilclimbs you only need a "Non-Race National B" licence. This does not require any starter pack or test or medical - you just pay the money and they send you one.

If you have a 'higher' level licence eg Race or Rally then you could also use that. I compete in the odd sprint or 2 using my Nat B Rally Driver licence.

Page 146 of the 2010 blue book gives you a table of minimum acceptable licences.

HILL CLIMBS, SPRINTS,SAND RACES

Clubman - Any National "˜B' (8)
National B - Any National "˜B'(8)
National A - Speed or Race National "˜A' (8)
International - Speed or Race International

(8) Speed National "˜A' (Open) or Race National "˜A' required for vehicles defined in S7.1 of the Regulations = racing or sports libre car built after 1960 of more than 2000cc unless car is road legal (basically)

The Castle Combe event is defintely run as National B - my motor club organizes it.

Would have to be using a pretty radically modified RS to fall into the Note 8 category. Sports Libre is for things like WRC and Group B rally cars, GT1, space framed things, etc

EDIT
Just looked at the online 2011 version - no change to min licences for sprints/hillclimbs (Section H)

Thanks Adrian for that, Gary at MSA is wrong then, I thought so and difficult to argue as a "Rookie" ...... another call Monday and I shall quote your post.

Let me know when you get a reply from SK Chris and paste it here .....
