Just a few questions from you speed championship veterans before the 2006
season starts !
Im know im leaving myself open for a good hammering in the GT3 RS but i think
its good to have a good range of machinery competing .......

will there be any tyre support companies at each venue or will I bring along my own
tools /tyres ( in case of punctures )etc ?
what is the usual testing procedure if any at each venue ? - can you go for a quick blast up the
run the night before ?

And another quick question. Where do you get details. i have looked all over the web for details of this year's events and how to enter.

in addition, from what I can see once you have a car like mine, its sort of open house in terms of power. Have i read that correctly. Would I really be competing with my 300 bhp car against people with similar cars but 400bhp?[&:]
 
No support for tyres or testing,no preruns the night before,its all about 2 practice runs and then give it some for 2 timed runs.You can walk the venues the night before.
Sprinting and hillclimbing is all about accuracy,and big balls vs skill
You have to register for the championship via steve a club hq.
Yes class 1 is pretty well anything goes,there are some min weights,but its not all about bhp,but it of course helps.
There are some great early cars running bewteen 250 and 300bhp,but try and beat them up a hill,on there hillclimb slicks.
What about a very special 3.2rsr engined carrera that very often beats the 600bhp+ single seaters off the line and to the first timing beacon which is at 64 feet,which he can do some times in a 1.9 secs,which is more than 1 g in less than 2 secs.
Its great to see a big range of cars out there, so good on yu for getting out there.
Top tip learn the game with time,and dont take it to seriouosly for the first season.Its more difficult than it first apperas to be!!So keep out of the scenery for as long as you can! We have all been there a few times when trying hard for the class win etc

Are there different classes for road registered cars that drive on the road then race cars ?
I always thought you got points for driving to an event but Steve Kevlin said you dont

What sort of entry fee per event are we looking at guys ?

Can you enter individual events or do you comit to the championship ?

you need to enter the champs for the season,also entries at events get well booked up,so enter the day you get the regs sent to you.
no points for road legal,you can use slicks,but i would not for the first season,they are not track slicks,but very soft specials even differant compounds for the season as in spring summer autumn etc
you would be to slow on track slick tires.
average cost per entry is around £100 +champ reg fee

yes will be at the ring in my 993rs for some fun,if all the snow has gone by then.
I will be going out any way to pick up a new trailer from near munich first,looking forward to the big steaks,white beer and rot vine!!

 
I must say, I would like a go in the Speed championship in my RS one day. I used to be the doc at Croft and I watched the Porsche Club lads compete there a few years ago. There was plenty of banter and so on between the Porsche owners, it looked like a good laugh.
 
Johnny you must do it one day,its great fun,and a lot to be learnt about you and the car.I can not leave it alone,all though i have put more effort as of late racing the cup car and GT2
You may struggle with our sense of humour though,from being a ooop north person.
Give you a example,a good freind came out of corner at a hillclimb and kept turning,down the field and in to the little river." hrs later the car was retrieved.
So the next year when said friend went to dinner,he came back to his car with a snorkle sticking out of his window,flippers taped to the back of his car,and a big emergency handle!!
