Been looking into this in some detail -- via manufacturers sites and 968.net etc.
It seems there is a body of opinion that NGK 'Iridium' plugs are the way to go. (I have always rated NGK in anycase). NGK's site does suggest why these plugs should be better, this is because the electrodes are in fact smaller, so the spark is more intense and apparently 'quicker' to fire. See the picture below.
Now having got that far NGK themselves do not actually list an Iridium plug for a 968, so I e-mailed them to get the correct type and they have just replied to me (within 2 working hours of me sending it, not bad!).
They say: BKR6E IX
Next problem is finding these little beauties in your local shops. As usual the web offers a solution and have just placed an order over the phone with some very nice people at www.spark-plugs.co.uk . Just over £7.50 each, no extra for p+p --- sent express delivery.
They should arrive tomorrow and I will tell you what I think when installed.
bye
