Spa under threat of closure!!!!

From my local informer....

Spa were asked two years ago to carry out some noise concessions....they put their head in the sand and forgot about it......local council committee decided to impose the arbitrary ban to give Spa a wake up call....hopefully these measures, whatever they are, will be implemented........

Comments about the tracks input to the local income so true....as is for the 'ring!!

Can but agree that we are going to have to make our cars quieter, as I have done already....managed a 98db day at Goodwood!![;)]

I can't agree on the airfield comments as it's a double whammy for me, both as pilot and track dayer!! In deference to noise complaints from a few locals, my own airfield has banned helicopter training, fitted silencers to club aircraft and altered the circuits to avoid noise sensitive areas........

Oh, and just for Matt and Jamie, I pushed this button:

Hi guys, we suffer this restrictions here in the Jarama circuit... max 90db, but you can pass ITV and road legal in the street with 95db...

Thats live...

And the owners of the houses around Jarama circuit were built after the circuit...

Electrical will be the solution... the worse solution

I think there is more to it..........

"Ehrm, guys, don't believe the hype.

Here's the problem : the Francorchamps circuit lies in Wallonia, the french speaking part of Belgium. Unlike the other part(s), which are teetering on the brink of bankrupcy, this region has been bankrupt hundred times over for as many years. It is in a truly dismal state and would have slid into third world levels of poverty if not for the constant sponsering by the rest of the country. Until now, the other part(s) of Belgium came to the rescue, but now due to the financial crisis, they are running out of money themselves.

Meanwhile, the Wallonians have signed a contract running several years with a certain Bernie E. Each time F1 comes to Spa, there is a LOSS of over 20 million Euros, paid by the Belgian taxpayer.

The local government seems to have found a way to put an end to this money pit though : under the excuse of some fringe lunatic green hippy losers complaining (what else would they do?) they can now effectively stop the circuit being a circuit. No more circuit, no more contract, no more money pit.

This is nothing more than an evasive manoeuver by a local government that is at it's last straw. Next year we won't even remember it happened. Chill."

"Every cloud ..............." hey Matt !:ROFLMAO:

HELLO JAMIE! LONG TIME NO SEE!!![;)]

Always around lurking in the background, just haven't had much to add ! I think I've used my car about three times so far in 2009, one trackday at Snetterton and that's it - I haven't even seen it since the first week of August ! I've been moving house this summer, so just haven't had the time or cash to indulge on the car. I'm having to rebuild my garage beacuse the bloody car doesn't fit in it (builders starting on Monday), so in the meantime my car is languishing in my parents' garage in darkest Essex and I'm in Surrey ......... All very dull ! With any luck the car will have its new home by the end of October and I intend to get out on track during the autumn when I can. Hopefully see some of you out and about then .......

Jamie
