Would love to look up the farmhouse Stewart ended upside down in the basement in covered in fuel .... he was trapped for sometime. Allegedly carried a spanner after that[&:]

Wonderful, thanks for posting that link will be watched many times [
].
We traced those old parts of the track last year, purely public road now but not exactly the same layout. Down at Stavelot on the film you can see a wonderful curve, some armco is still visible but the curve was blocked off. Instead you come to a T junction, left to Stavelot right to Blanchemont. If you turn right you can drive right up to the gates, looks about 100ft or so from the modern track.
About the only way one can drive the old Spa now is on the game, Grand Prix Legends, even a game brings home how insanely fast those sections where in those cars.

Yes, you drive most of the old circuit if you go from La Source to the Stavelot tunnel entrance, Makes you realise what a fast section of track it really was. Oh and they only blocked that curve off a couple of years ago, because it caused too many accidents as the 2 roads joined again.

great thank for sharing , really amazing and very fast, that car going opposit in Eau rouge was quite scary, this is proper Belgium racing, there is a few more places like this in Belgium, where they still organise races; Mettet, Chimay and Gedinne my favourite, (see on youtube) they use to run Gehonville as well but I think it's closed now to many bad crashes,

Some comments from a previous thread:
It features Bianchi driving the ex-Essex Racing Stable Zagato bodied Aston Martin DB4GT, which had been lent to Ecurie National Belge. In fact Bianchi was leading the race when he crashed out.

It was probably filmed on the Thursday (the race was on the Saturday). I did spot the Beetle, coming the other way!!!

Close encounters with race cars the weekend before a race was common place. Remember that the road was only closed for quali and race.

If you have a look on Google Earth the old circuit is very clear. Spa as it is today is a long circuit so imagine running on the old format. Must have been incredible......apart from the proximity of the trees, the odd Bug dawdling along, logging trucks, tractors etc etc.
