Smart repair

Hi all

Was hoping for some advice please.

I’m purchasing a used 992 which had a small scratch on the rear panel and has had a smart repair. I understand the repair area was done over a few inches.

I have been you can’t tell but have never done a smart repair done on my car. Is this something to worry about? I presume some of the used 911s do actually end up having such repairs.

many thanks!

Smart repair can only be done where the scratch is in the top layer of the paint. Then it can be polished out. If that has been done then all is good if the damage is deeper then paint rectification / respray is required.
Porsche paint approved shops are easily able to repair these defects and you wouldn't be able to tell they had done a repair.

Many thanks. From my understanding this wasn’t a polish out but it was resprayed in an area of a few inches and blended in (scratch was deeper than top player).

If it was done by opc approved paint shop and you can't see repair, why are you concerned?
