Slow loss of tyre pressure.

I recently purchased a 2011 997 GTS from a good independent, due to surgery the car was delivered by low loader and kept in my garage for a few weeks. I noticed that both rear tyres, recently replaced P-Zeros, were down to c. 16PSI. Since this time I have taken the car out for one decent run to warm the tyres through and have monitored what now seems to be a loss per day of .5 PSI. The dealer has been great and states that if not a puncture (checked its not) this is covered under the warranty. To get this sorted I am going to have to take the car to a local specialist but before I do so does anyone have experience of a similar issue?

Given that it's happening to both sides at more or less the same rate, I'd say the tyres aren't sealed on the rim properly. They'll need to be reseated.

Easiest way to identify an air leak is the remove the wheel and immerse it a bath full of water.
The most likely reason is leakage from the tyre valve i.e. a defective or loose valve core. Remove the dust cap and put some spit over the valve opening to check for bubbles. A less common and often overlooked reason is a porous wheel rim.

Clive

Thanks all, some good tips the 'porous wheel rim' is the expensive one, so off to the independent whilst under warranty!

I've just bought a 997.1 turbo and am experiencing a similar thing. The passenger side rear wheel loses 0.2/3 bar over a couple of days, and no more. It's very strange. The dealer is going to resolve, as they'd just fitted 4 new michelins.

I have a similar problem, went to tyre fitters they checked for puncture by immersing wheel in water bath, found air leaking around valve stem seal, have purchased new stem £6 eBay just need to return for them to fit.

This was resolved on my car by the removal of the tyres and then the fitters cleaning the rims and coating with sealant!

As with C4MRC the problem is almost certainly to be that the surface of wheel where it meets with the tyre bead wasn't cleaned when the new tyres were fitted. Take it back and get them to do it properly.
BTW hope you are enjoying your GTS, utterly brilliant IMHO
