Slightly concerned about this colour choice…

I've changed my mind on colour about a million times but I've never configured the green nor have I seen one in the flesh. The rest of the config is easy, although I would say that they look good in any colour combination. I'm playing about with painted interiors or carbon at the moment Good luck, it's a nice position to be in.

Recently I’ve ordered a new 718 and have a few weeks to finalise the colour and specs…. I had a gt silver one before and am thinking about going for something a little different.

aventurine Green with agate grey interior.

im worried that this colour choice might not be popular as I haven’t seen any 718’s with this colour combo?

Also is it true that agate grey interior is more of a brown colour than grey?


it looks grey on the configurator but have been told it looks a lot different in the flesh.

Don't worry its a great position to be in. Looking at pics your exterior colour choice of green almost looks the same as your interior colour choice Agate.

All the exterior green colour Porsche cars I have seen have IMO looked best with a Beige colour interior. Trying configurating with a Savanah or lighter interior.

Agate is a fair bit darker in leather than the platinum grey that used to be available and which I have in my Boxster S and Cayenne S. It can give more of a brown, beige, grey mixed colour appearance than and all out grey. I think there is a Slate/Graphite grey option for leather which does not have the brown tone in it.

As for your exterior colour it is a great choice, I went to see a 718 Cayman S in that colour at Porsche Belfast. It is remarkably similar to Agate from a distance. I think someone on here put up a picture of an agate car beside an aventurine Green car and the difference was only in shade and hue. Close up you can determine more of a difference.

I would agree with the above post that a sandbeige and black interior would look really well. I saw a night blue 718 earlier this week with a two tone, what looked like crayon and black interior, I think the seat centres were in race tex. It looked smart.

I seem to have been through every colour, was going to go with Night Blue but have settled on Gentian (at the moment, still have a few weeks before lock in).

Decided to go for something different and ordered without seeing one. However really pleased with colour which is much better than colour charts show, and suits the new GTS. I initially went for Aventurine but after seeing a few decided on Python. The new engine and overall performance improvements over the old 981 are much greater than I thought when it is fully run in.

I looked at aventurine as a colour choice as it’s stunning on a 911 however I wasn’t convinced when I saw it on a Cayman. Not sure on the grey interior I’m afraid. I agree with others that a black/beige would work with aventurine and night blue but I’ve heard the night blue has or is being discontinued.

I heard the same about night blue.. it’s a shame as I though that was a really nice colour and suited the car well.

im steering more towards black now… I think it will look classy with some nice wheels.

bit worried about swirl marks from washing though but hopefully a layer of wax will sort that.

Wax won’t stop or hide swirl marks. You‘ll be better with a ceramic coating which will help reduce the chances of swirl marks but it will need a decent paint correction first.

What is this ceramic coating stuff? And is it easy to apply yourself?

when the car is delivered I want to get the right stuff on the paint to protect it straight away.

YouTube is your friend Mark. Depending on where you are, there are lots of retailers who will apply it for you. It’s easy enough to apply but the prep work and curing time play a key factor (you shouldn’t let the coating get wet for 24hrs after application). You’ll get a single stage polish and ceramic coating done by a detailer for £500 upwards. Mine was done at Staffordshire Car Care.

I’m not a fan of black - although it can look great in certain light conditions - and it needs to be kept spotlessly clean because it shows every mark, including swirls and scratches. If you want a darker colour I think the Cayman looks really classy in Gentian Blue (see above post) … maybe with a blue or grey leather interior? I’ve also seen a 981 Cayman in Crayon which looked surprisingly good, and I think Carmine Red suits the car well, although those two colour options are rather expensive.

Although we didn’t spend any time there during our visit, I think Jules uses him for any paint correction work prior to PPF so I would think that he’s reliable.

I have no experience of using either company, but just to add that at the time Jules didn’t charge VAT for his services.

A cars colour choice is a personal thing I have had a few bright colours it's like Marmite some people love it or hate it.
