Silverstone Classic

Oh I have been once it sure is a decent event for sure.. well worth going if you have not been before that's for sure.

Pre booked tickets were approx £12 per day with infield parking. This has to be the best show and value for for money event of the year.

Something for all the family - racing, static club displays, shops, etc even a fun fair for children - and a rock show in the evening!

Take a look http://silverstoneclassic.com/

Try and keep me away[;)]

I agree does look good value when it's all day. I have been before and it certainly was a good event. May be next year. Mind you Classic Le Mans is next year and I have not been for a while some local car guys are going and have asked me so I might just go with them. Mix of AC Cobra - Bristol - 911- Spitfire- TR6's and me. Not the same as a big group of 911's and 912's in a drive down but those days are well and truely over.

Going Thursday and will be there all weekend, keep a look out for a Black Turbo S (F66 KEC) a beer or two sounds good on Saturday in one of the bars if posters are up for it, i have not been before so do not know the full SP.

Let me know Steve, it is my matey Mike who has sorted tickets and has spares.

I have a pair of weekend tickets I cannot use ( and a car park ticket but they're car dependent ) so if anyone wants them at £60.00, let me know - 07976 702583. I'm in London but can mail them tomorrow or can arrange a meeting.

Part way there... my journey has been interrupted by an unfortunate stop at the office. Will be rolling again mid-afternoon though! [:)]

What a fantastic day of racing! I didn't get to chat to anyone on the club stand unfortunately, but it was nice to see so many Porsches out for the day.

Off in a few minutes with my daughter for round 3!

Anybody fancy a meet and a beer at lunchtime call/ text me on 07811 944 953

I didn't make it this year but I saw a couple of 944s around sixfields and the various m1 junctions as I happened to be out demonstrating my new tuning bits to a friend on my way to sixfields cinema.

Was a great weekend though sadly didn't catch up with any fellow 944 types. Was a shame that parking was not in register groups as previously (though I understand why that might not have been the case) as it made meeting up that much more difficult.

That said the unexpected parade lap today was brilliant fun and we were even able to put a bit of spirit into our driving in brief spurts [:)]

To answer your comment about not parking in Register groups, in previous years when the parking was Register based, we had large gaps in the field which didn't look very good, so this year the decision was made to park every one together to fill the area with as few gaps as possible, this seemed to work quite well to the few of us that volunteered to do the parking. It certainly made it easier to do.
The other problem I know from the experience of organising the PCGB side of things in years gone by, is that we never know what cars or how many cars will arrive on each of the days so it becomes impossible to allocate each Register an area of sufficient size for each of the three days.
It is difficult enough to arrange this at a PCGB event, it is almost impossible to do when you are at someone elses event and PCGB are not doing the ticketing. Of course if you want to be trogether the best way is for the Register Secretary to arrange for their members to meet up somewhere and arrive at Silverstone together.
Regarding the track Parade laps, we are all hooligans really, isn't it a great race circuit.

Yes I figured that was the reason having seen the the wide open spaces that register based parking has caused in the past and I do understand why the change was made. The parade lap was excellent- funny how we all started in neat rows of four plodding along having been told to behave only to see it all "unravel" by half way round the first lap. Great stuff ! [:D]

Love Silverstone Classic weekend, couldn't get down Thursday, but went Friday and Sunday.

Did manage to meet a few 944ers, really good to meet Frenchy, his car looks great and is nicely modded.

As is my want I took a few pictures -Friday here and Sunday here.

Was down there Monday for the Goldtrack evening session too!

I love my wife!!!!
