Silverstone Classic

ORIGINAL: Diver944

....Has anyone thought about camping over at Wittlebury Hall....

That'll be me, but I might have to bring Small home on Friday night - perhaps I go back after rather than get up at silly o'clock on Saturday. [8|]

The BBQ sounds like a great idea but wait...is the the health and safety man i hear creeping up behind you..

I'd guess that a BBQ would be a logistical nightmare with who pays for what, dodgy meat on a hot day etc. Also I would think that Silverstone have restrictions to protect their food concessions. I know that many outdoor venues allow picnics but no fires and I can't imagine a motor-racing circuit being less that over-protective!

Booked in at Buckingham travel lodge for two days, did not use the club Ref number to book the tickets with Silverstone, Hope we can still park in the 944 Register parking area.

Just done the same Jon [] I am going to ring up Silverstone and get it sorted on Monday - I hope anyway [:(]

BTW Paul count me in for helping out for the 3 days also.......[;)] .

Hi Jon,

I think you need a pass to get into the display parking, but I will check with Club office. They did need reg no and membership number when I booked.

Hi All
Has anyone received their tickets from Silverstone yet.
Cheers
Tracy

Lol - Silverstone tickets already!!

Last year they arrived with me on the Wednesday before the Friday start. A shame, as I had everyone's tickets....[][][][]

I'd be patient, Tracy! [&:]

Right, a conclusive update on Silverstone Classic. For now....[]

If, when you booked, you quoted the Club reference (and got the big discount) you're in the Register parking. [:)]

If you booked without using the Club reference you won't have access to the infield parking, but will be in the Porsche car park. Probably - it's not under our control and the Silverstone marshalls might need to be talked to nicely....[&:]

If you haven't booked, why not?? Tickets are still available, and although you've missed the opening discount it's not a bad deal. Quote the Club reference number in the Porsche Post and you will should get into the Register parking area. There is a limit on numbers but Barry Smith has been hugely helpful and he'll accomodate as many of us as possible.

Apologies for being slow on this, but I think I read it's too late to get the reduced rate tickets now, is that right? What about the car park pass (assuming there are more than a handful of parking spaces of course!), how do you apply?

Saying all this I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to make it, if the weathers good I've got a lot of work to do to the white car, so may have to skip it. It's a shame there's no Porsche reaces this year, but I assume there are still the Group C cars which would make it worthwhile.

Congrats on the Mot, my 944S passed last week (second time round admittedly).

Should be there Thurs Fri and Sunday!

A9XXC passed Monday - 1st time!

Changed the gearbox and n/s rear trailing arm (arm bent and knocked out bearing in gearbox) today

Mike

I'm only there on the Sunday. Shall we set a time and place for a 944 Register meet? Suggest beer time at a suitable venue, is the Fire Engine bar there?

Good to hear you (and Beaky) will be there John.
Are you camping? - I'm just about to book our pitch.

Not this year as I have to set a good example so can't be allowed in situations where I might set fire to things. [8|]

I assume you are looking at Whitlebury Hall as last year? It is quite tight so try to get together as a group to form a strategic enclosure with defendable boundaries. R11 have an extremely good set up so it might be worth phoning Greg to see if he can put you in touch with Joy & Steve.

Hi Paul - I dont know how to open a new thread .
