Short shift gear kit

Anyone have one of these? does it make much of a difference? I don't track my car but thought of buying these when I am sorting out my sloppy gear lever, I've always like the short throw on my sister's old MX-5 and wondered if the Porsche kit would get close to that effect?

Are you talking about the SS linkage or the SS gearstick itself? I have the former and although it is slighter shorter its also slightly harder to shift gears now, not always a good thing on a car that already has a fairly stiff movement due to the positioning of the gearbox. The gearstick type I assume does the same but not sure if its any better or worse...

I have a SS linkage on the turbo and I love it even though I do not track the car.

However, I would like to stress it has been a welcome addition due to the use of a lightened flywheel and lighter rods that make revs fall far more quickly between each gearchange than on a standard engine, hence the need to reduce the time needed to change gears.

On the S2 the engine is mostly fully standard and I do not think the driving experience would benefit from any quicker gearchanges.
If I reduced the time needed to change gears there, then I might have to wait a bit more before re engaging the clutch until revs fall to the "right" level. For sure it may only be a matter of personal adjustment to the car, but in this very case not worth it in my opinion.
