She's gone.... :-(

Well it is a strange feeling when it finally happens. To see someone else get into your car, re-adjust the seat, mirrors, get themselves comfortable then watch a car that has been your pride and joy for nigh on 6 years drive off down the road never to return again, is a feeling I can only imagine I hasten to add, that can be compared with getting home from work early one day to find your wife in bed with the milkman. You are left standing there wondering where you go from here. So as you can guess my car has finally gone to its next lucky owner and i'm sure she'll bring him much fun and joy as she did me. The new owner is known on this forum and i'm sure he'll be along in a couple of days, once he's finished familiarising himself with his new purchase, to announce the fact he has joined the ranks of 944 turbo owners.

Anyway I wont dwell on it too much, life goes on, I had a blast and my life has moved on over the past couple of years so I have lots of new challenges and things to occupy my time and wallet. And I now have a nice nearly new Ford S-Max to enjoy (or will have when I pick it up next week). To be fair it is a great peice of kit for what it is, drives very well, as all Fords do these days, handles like a much smaller and lighter car, so is capable of raising the occasional smile. Not that impressed with these new fangled turbo-deisel engines - and i've got the upgraded 2.2ltr turbodiesel. Yes it pulls like a train at lower revs and in lower gears, but the power band has no width to it. I guess if you had a thumping great 3.0ltr twin sequential turbodeisel under the hood it would be a different matter (which can be said of any engine). But anyway, it is primarily a tool and not a toy. At least it has plenty of toys inside to occupy me.

I 've had plenty of wobbly moments over the past week between agreeing the sale and the car being picked up, and the biggest one was just this morning when I popped out to the shops and upon returning home, turning the corner to see the car on the drive looking gleaming in the sun. I had taken for granted what a pretty car the 944 really is, especially from the side view. Anyway, i'll miss her and maybe in another 10 - 15yrs i'll be in a position to have another go at Porsche ownersihip.

I feel for you Scott , truly I do, your a braver man than I because i don't think I could have done the same. I think my car will die with me, hell my wife may even bury me in it....oh wait a minute.. no I'm getting confused with her threats from the past...[8D]

Seriously though good for you for going through with it. may you one day return to the fold with an even better, more powerful 944 turbo..

Pete

It's not that much easier even when you are only changing for another 944, ask Jon and myself about seeing our old cars turning up at Porsche and Polo. [&o]

Thanks for all your input here over the years, and please keep lurking, at least! [:)]

Thanks Paul, though I suspect an audit of my previous posts would probably reveal more of a case of quantity rather than quality!!! I'm sure i'll be loitering, it will take a while to wean myself off 944's and i've got some parts in the garage i'll be wanting to get rid of.

Scott, a very sad day.

You should be back a lot eaqrlier than 10-15 years, my kids once they fitted in the rear bucket seats wanted to go in Daddy's car a lot and you should find in a few years that you can return.

I know exactly what you mean. I had the same feelings when I sold my Westfield. It didn't help that Peter & Belinda were both in tears as it left. Several years down the line I still miss it.

Hi Scott

Sorry to see she has gone[:(]

I keep having similair thoughts of getting rid then I drive her and think where would I find one as good ever again.

Thankfully things like yesterrdays Dyno on the Wirral re spark my enthusiasm[:D]

Hope to see you back in a Porsche in the future, I am sure we will.

Cheers

Lee

ps you still got an EBC kicking about???[:)]

I think I know exctly what you mean [&o] ......... but then I've never sold a car. I'm that sad I just can't bear to see them go, so the previous 3 that I've owned have either been stolen or finaly scrapped.

Please lurk as long as you can bear, or you'll be missed.

Ah Scott, I know exactly how you are feeling right now![8|]

Just try and keep tabs on your old car, so that you can buy it back when the time comes - that's what I'm doing!!

Red one never left!!?Secret one is a mix of goldy/pink[&:].!..
Scott hope you come back soon, best of luck[:)]

Sorry to hear about your loss Scott, but just think of all the joy and delight she's now bringing into someone else's life! Besides, the S-Max isn't so bad, it's what I use to ferry the family around in and it's definitely the best handling people carrier that I've ever driven.

A sad day for sure but good to know that the new owner is someone from round these parts. Don't be a stranger, am sure you won't.

Pauls right about seeing my old car at P and P, it is crazy how a lump of metal and plastic can evoke such an emotional impact, but in a way rather wonderful too.

I may be going the other way and adding a very nice 220 turbo to the stable [:D]

Anyone fancy a beautiful immaculate E46 B3.3.3 Alpina.

Well, I'm the lucky new owner of Scotts 951. Ive done a few miles in it already, it has produced more than a few grins. Its now parked in a top secret location awaiting its belt change and service. The first thing that struck me is how much more presense the car has than my lux, the lower stance, twist alloys and the changes to the front end really finish the car off. It put a smile on my face when I was looking at it in the petrol station on the way home, the lux never did that. The engine is powerfull, reminds me of my dads old 930 turbo, yet controllable and you are never worried about the turbo coming in and catching you out. The handling, well just as Scott said it can handle all it's power with ease and the level of control it gives disuises the cars performance. It just sits flat all the time except under the harshest cornering/braking yet it handles a bumpy a road with ease. I did have a moment of worry when I considered the fact the car might not get up my drive, a slight oversight I know, luckily it did with a few mm to spare. Shame I had to jump back in the company Focus so soon!

Best wishes to wherever you're heading, Scott.

Congrats to the new owner too.

Cheers Thom and all. I think it will be very tricky to get the Porsche bug out of my system but I simply wont have the funds to dip my toe in the water again for a while. I have permission from the wife to start a 'Porsche fund' as she, rather uncharacteristically, took pity on me once the car was gone and she saw I was pining. And it didn't help today when I came home from work to find a package waiting for me which was the trick CNC machined Custome Engineered Producs Fuel Rail kit, which just looks like a lovely peice of kit, a real work of art, that would have looked stunning bolted on the engine (managed to get a plug in there. Thread and photo's coming soon as it is not compatable with an S-Max so is up for sale!).

Anyway, I wish Tom all the best with her, I know he'll look after her and he picked up on a few things I hadn't noticed when he was looking at her, so he has a keen eye for perfection which is encouraging. I'm so glad I didn't need to put her up on somewhere like PistonHeads and deal with all the numpty tyre kickers that would have inevitably come for a look-see, take it for a joy ride then try to insult my intelligence with idiotic reasons to justify rediculous offers.

Scott, you are a stronger man than me. I put mine up for sale for a day, then drove it again and took it off the market. You could always put a lorry turbo on the S Max. My porsche disease is too far gone now to not have another one. I am sure we will speak again in the short term when you buy another one. [:)]
