Sherborne Castle and other stuff

Despite the (let's say "changable") weather, I thought yesterdays event at the Sherborne Castle Classic Car Show was a resounding success as an event in general and as an example of what enthusiasm for a task can achieve. That PCGB R26 and friends were going to put on a good show was never beyond doubt, but for that to be recognised by the organisers should make us all very pleased with ourselves - I certainly was.

Now for the gushing bit...most of you will know by now how passionate I am about Porsches and have been since childhood. For me, a total petrolhead almost since birth, they are the absolute pinnacle of usable automotive engineering and I had wanted to own one for as long as I can remember. Having realised that dream two years ago, you can't begin to imagine how proud I was to be asked by my R26 friends (which is what you've become over the last year) to represent PCGB in my car at the awards presentation yesterday. I might have appeared blasé when Nick suggested it (I hope I did) but inside I was over the moon! My ownership of the car has been punctuated by a number of high points (punctuated by very few lows) but honestly, yesterday was the best so far - especially as, in my opinion, there were better candidates to represent us.

Just one more thing - I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but I should have stood back and insisted that Karl or Maria collected the award, as I believe it was their efforts over the last (many) months that tipped the balance in our favour.

Thanks again - and here's to next year when we'll beat those pesky Stags (and certainly the Minis)!

I'll get back to being blasé now...

Chris

Thanks Chris

much to our surprise considering how awful the weather was on the drive over & the first couple of hours, Sundays show turned out to be one of the most enjoyable events we have attended to date, I think this was mostly due to the fact that everyone who had made the effort to bring their (cleaned) pride & joy out in such poor conditions was determined to not let the atmosphere be dampened!! by the weather Oh & did I mention the Cake!!

When asked I agreed with the consensus that your car was the right choice for the job, a classy classic any day of the week & after all that was what the show was all about.

A great group effort rewarded with a worthy 2nd place [:D]

Well said Karl. The committee were unanimous in the decision to pick Chris's car to represent us all at the award ceremony.

Good words here...

For me, I think it is fantastic that last... what? last September? we talked about seeing if we could maybe look at putting ourselves forward for some of the "best club stand" competitions... This, our first show since the idea was put forward, we come second, at a significant show, with many good clubs! Not only that, it wasn't just the committee, we have had a great deal of regular members as well putting in a lot of work to make it happen. It really is outstanding. I know a lot of regional organisers that would give up a limb for the support we have here in Dorset.
Just when I thought it was good, it just got even better!
I'm now really looking forward to Larry Piper's. I don't think I've been this excited about a car show since I got my first Porsche.

Tref.

I know its a bit late but Iagree the decision was totally correct

Paul
