Shell Optimax - 3.2 carrera engine

Hi,
My car works fine with Shell Optimax. However if I use Super unleaded then the engine shudders at 1000-1500 revs while trying to cruise in traffic without touching the rev pedal.

Is there something wrong?, or is my engine sensitive?
The handbook states that the engine should be run on 98OCT (Optimax).

What' s the octane on Super Unleaded - 97ron?
I would doubt that it makes a difference but how about trying some octane additive with the Super Unleaded, or just stick to Shell.
