setting date with piwis 2?

My 2012 997.2 won't let me set the date, and the date is wrong (it shows 2007), although I can set the time

From what I've read, if the car has GPS, the PCM only takes the date from GPS — and because of the GPS week rollover bug (https://safran-navigation-timing.com/the-gps-2019-week-rollover-what-you-need-to-know/), the date comes out wrong.

I've seen a video where someone switches the PCM to a non-GPS mode, which then allows setting the date manually (
). But that video is for a Cayenne, and when I plug into PIWIS 2, the options aren't the same for the 997.

Has anyone tried this on a 997.2?997 pcm - Imgur.jpg

the link to the video doesn't work ( if thats what you posted ) - the cayenne pcm3 is different to the one in the 9x7.2 - it is "slightly" newer - and supports bluetooth audio/aux input which the 9x7.2 doesn't - maybe thats the difference.

Haven't tried to do this on a pcm 3 (9x7.2) but if have tried on a 9x7.1 - and despite a porsche tsb saying "set it manual" in piwis - i dont believe anyone has actually figured out how but this is the first I have heard of a possibility - the video might give a clue ....

When you say "the link to the video doesn't work," Did you mean you can see the video from the link? let me try to give you the link again:

interesting - not seen that before - kind of makes sense

But that cluster is more 9x1 than 9x7 - so not surprised there is nothing like it in the previous gen cars.

I think the date issue on PCM3 is more recent than 2019 - I was using mine in my 987.2 up until last year and hadn't had the issue for setting the date. A similar problem on the 9x7.1 was caused by the satellite(s) that it used for date being decommissioned, not the "epoch" event, so maybe this is similar.

The documented fix for that (which as far as I know - nobody has been able to actually make work) was to change the PCM coding to manual - except that option wasn't there in PIWIS - I think people found a workaround which was to disconnect the GPS from the unit - and then it allowed a manual date change - which would stick if you reconnected ( until next time you disconnected the battery) - maybe that would apply the 9x7.2 PCM 3 units. ?
