Service and MOT sweepstake!

what worries me is the amount of time the car spent in their workshop, any mechanic will find plenty of other little jobs that need doing over a month

Pete

I'm picking my S.2 up from RPM in the morning - welding to decat pipe and replace rear KW bushes.....£424

So on that basis, I'll say £2250.........and when do we get the answer [:)]

Glad to see we're all keeping RPM busy [:D]

My Red car passed its MOT there last week (probably it's last one though [:(]) and the white car is there to fail its MOT today (chances are it will fail, but I don't know to what extent yet!)

I've only used RPM once and found them to be very knowledgeable with great service and very fair on pricing for an Indy in this area.

I'd guess at £1694.02 inc the VAT for all OEM parts and I'm assuming when you say seals you mean the full engine seal kit

Alisdair has a great reputation and quotes great prices but if us Southerners persuaded him to move down here it would probably double his rent, rates and insurance overnight and his prices would have to go up accordingly [:(]

Just in! £350 for the welding to the rear suspension mount. Plus vat....

I do think it would be worth a week's drive up to Scotland, get Alasdair to service the car whilst I have a holiday, and save some money. The world's gone mad.....[&o]

Just been quoted...

Belts - £225
Pullies - £110 if required
Oil seals - £52

All plus VAT.

I was feeling a little down, seems like I've got a reasonable deal

maybe we could arrange for us all to go up simon, get both cars done at the same time and we can have a jolly.

Total was......

A whisker over £2500, although that's including an awful lot of VAT.

So, Ewan, you are the winner. Alasdair, you need to move down south! [:D]

That means I've spent £6K in two years. And, I need the bodywork sorting sooner rather than later. And the suspension refreshing. [&o]

How Much? [:-]

Surely that's more than the bits you listed?

Glad I don't live in the South (this is just one more reason [:D])

Youve been charged about 3x what Id consider to be a fair price, maybe 2x if the parts were expensive.

I hate the South. I lived and worked there briefly and theres nothing good about it. The thoughtof the tube on Monday morning still makes me shudder! Also: why is everyone afraid of saying 'hello'? Theyre not as shy when it comes to writing massive invoices, obviously.

Ok lets not make this into a slag the south off thread, some of us try to earn a living and make a home here...

Re the price from RPM, its does seem a little steep, Ive used RPM a few times and whilst you cant fault the quality of their work I switched to Promax as I found their prices a little keener and their service actually better. Whenever I seemed to get quotes from RPM I got the feeling to some extent they were trying to get what they could out of me. (You might as well do this, and this whilst you doing it too, kind of thing)> The Kw-v3 quote as an example at £3300. With Promax I found the opposite, Andy will always try and save you money and give you your options, based on what actually needs to be done on the car.

This is not to say RPM are dishonest or untruthful in any way, Oli is a great guy and comes highly recommended from some, its just that different specailists do things in different ways.

That seems a hell of a lot of money to me Paul - event when you exlude the VAT its still over two grand[&:]

This fred will be doing RPM no favours[&o]

It makes me wonder what a PC would charge!

Hope to see you at the Chateau!

Ouch! Does seem a lot for the small list you originally posted. Depends how extensive the welding was needed and what exact seal work was done.

See you at Impney for a shoulder to cry on [:(]
