All,
I am trying to renew the seat belts on my RSL and as always nothing is straightforward....
Remove the carpeted covers, 2off 9mm plastic nuts v easy.
Next job, remove the seat belt reel.
The bolt that holds the seat belt reel in place is partially obscured by a plastic molding containing a rubber flap which I assume allows excess air to bleed out from the interior of the car. The molding is fixed by two small bolts to the shell and also appears to be glued to the carpet. Furthermore on the drivers side (LHD) the main wiring harness coming in from the engine bay appears to be glued to the back of this plastic molding under the carpet.
I have tried to loosen the 17mm bolt holding the seat belt reel using a 3/8" drive with universal joint but the bolt is v tight and the socket slips off as a result of the angle, any more of this and I am in danger of rounding off the bolt.
My question is; anyone done this before? am I missing a trick? Should I remove the plastic molding with the rubber flap or will this open up another pandora's box?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin.
