SC Interior

I've recently bought a 1979 SC Sport, it is silver with full burgundy leather.

The questions are,
a) did they come with burgundy leather in 1979?
b) the top and underneath of the dash and door tops are leather, was this an option on this year? if so what can I do about the top section of the dash as it is distorted?

Any feedback would be a great help, as I would to make it as original as possible.

Cheers

Harry

Sorry we haven't come up with anything concrete (in fact anything Harry)! Give it a few days. You could try ringing Peter Cook who is in charge of the PCGB archive at Cornbury house maybe he can help. For what it's worth I've seen burgundy interiors from that period and it is common to see 'cloth' trim mixed with leather a lot at this time. For advice on trim and fixing interior elements of your car ask Dave Nunn at SOUTHBOUND
Ask him about the '79 trim options he will probably know that too.

I've just read that C Program SCs Aug' 81- July 82 had a burgundy leather interior as a - special - option. Apparently it's difficult to find out all the options for every year and it's easily possible that earlier cars such as yours had a burgundy interior straight from the factory.

Hi Harry,

With regard to your burgandy leather being original, several books I have state the porsche 'Special Wishes' department of the late seventies/early eightys would pretty much give you whatever combination of paint/trim that you wanted - for a price!!!
So it is entirely possible that it was that spec from the factory.

I have recently won on ebay a 1980/1981 trim spec & colour chart brochure which I am waiting for snail mail to deliver, if there is any relevent info I will endevour to pass it on.

Cheers Dan.

See if you can find your option/trim codes any where, part leather interior trim code is M986
Leather option colours in 79 were blue, cork, black, yellow, lobster, light red, light green and white.
Photos are allways good. [:)]
