Sat Nav Map Update?

Im trying to get the map to update on the PCM - Ive just activated the Nav+ subscription, and can get "satellite map" data ok, but the map itself is ancient. For example on the A14 in Huntingdon, the map photo shows the new road layout, but the route map is clueless. I cant for the life of me find a button to update the map data.
I have tried the embedded sim, my phone hotspot and house WiFi - nothing

must be missing a button somewhere?

yeah had same on my previous 718 but now Im 992 and cant find anything equivalent

My map updates seem to happen without me prompting them. I see it downloading at the top of the screen without me doing anything.

Whether the maps are up to date is another matter. I have long given up on the map producers (Navteq/TeleAtlas?) providing something that reflects recently built roads.

Software updates can be selected using the menu, but I do not think that is for the maps. Nothing ever seems available, though.

I'm not sure how exactly, but I think its resolved. I connected to my home WiFi (rather than phone hotspot) and now its updated automatically. Hopefully it now understands the roads near me now!

So the update will only work over WiFi and not embedded SIM or bluetooth SIM.

no not really. Ive noticed that when my phone is connected (via BT), the car never makes a data connection. I have to switch over the Embedded SIM - but I dont have any Data Packages, just Navigation+.
Wonder if I need to tweak something with the Remte SIM setup on my samsung phone to allow Data?

I had a data only SIM for the car WiFi hotspot and that worked in a 991.2 GT3. I think it needs to have WiFi but maybe won’t use a phone data hotspot.

So im still having issues with this. Finally got the "Navigation Database" to upate to a version ending "2022.1", but still large parts of the new A14 road layouts are missing. Now I discover most of the England maps are still dated "2019.2" - in particular "England Central", which Im assuming is where Northamptonshire/Cambridgeshire would live.

My suspicion is that you can't force an update, once you're subscribed to the Nav package it will just do it when it's good and ready!

I don't believe you need wifi, the package includes the use of the embedded SIM, which is T-Mobile, so a decent signal would be required, and some patience.
