saratoga top

Like any "rare" item it is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it and there's no shortage of people prepared to pay silly money for things. It all comes down to how much you want something. For example, I prefer the standard, "solid", sunroof and I can get one of those for £30-£40 so for me, the value of that glass one is about £20. [:D]

I'd love one. But not at that price. I'd also love no sunroof at all. The standard sunroof is nothing but a pain. Its much to fiddly to remove so I almost never do.

Im not so sure. I never remove the roof panel because Im aware of all the things that can go wrong and of how much trouble it can lead to. A friend however, who knows nothing about 944s and has no real experience of them, bought an S2 and he whips out the roof every time the sun shines! He can remove it and refit it in a few seconds and he gets far more enjoyment from it than I ever have done.

Have to admit I do like to remove mine when I can, although the whole "wind through the hair" experience is now long gone [:D][:D]

Have always thought one of these would be a great addition but at a sensible price - Did the intended remanufacture of these in the States that was mentioned recently come to naught ? I love driving with the roof popped up - its a great feature of the car. Also great removing the panel completely, though putting it back can be a bit of a faff !

The saratoga roof ad says that it makes your 944 look more like a Targa. Why would you want your smooth and sleek 944 to look like one of those old hump-back 911's?

presume they mean a 993 or 996 targa with the glass roof rather than the earlier efforts, still rather a desperate attempt at advertising copy

A UK based Saratoga top went for just under £1000 two years ago on ebay. I was watching the bidding between two people thinking.......wow you must be mad. I recollect about three years ago their was discussion on this forum with a UK based plexiglass manufacturer (A Porsche owner) who was looking in to the feasability of making a basic one up in plexiglass. Does anyone know if this developed?
