Sachs front struts

Does anyone know the difference between struts for S2 & 2.7 lux? I have seen them on Design 911 site but S2 are twice the price and have a 951 part code and 2.7 944 code. Struts for 968 have same code as S2.

Thanks, Alan.

the S2 uses the Turbo struts which uses a smaller dia spring
the 944 86> including the S uses a diferent strut with the bigger dia springs
pre 86 uses the strut with inserts

Am pretty sure that you could use the turbo/S2 shocks if you wished as long as you got springs to match too.

Turbo strut is completely different than S2/968 one. The Only similarity is sealed design which all '87 and newer share. S2 spring diameter is smaller than turbo has. It's odd why factory choose this route. All newer sealed type struts can easily modify to accept older style insert, have myself used Koni, Bilstein, KYB, etc. inserts. Older serviceable struts cannot be used with new ET cars, spindle attachment is a bit different.

Thanks for the replies. RE inserts Oli mentioned, I have seen Koni listed as suitable for Sachs strut and Bilstein for Boge strut. Do Bilstein's fit in Sachs strut?

Alan.

I've got M030 adjustable Koni shock bodies with the Koni inserts and Spax lowering springs on my 2.7.

The plan is to replace tired struts and shocks along with poly bushes and -30 lowering springs. Going with Sachs (oe) keeps it insurance friendly and maybe better for selling when the time comes. I have been tempted by Spax coilovers as they are great value.

Alan.
