A 944 friend who has decided to leave the country, has offered me a s2 motor complete less alternator, what would it be worth. I know it is a well cared for lump with only 100k on. Thanks

I've seen them on ebay for anywhere from £500 to over £1200 - but I think closer to £500 is probably closer to the mark

you see plenty of S2 engines and gearboxes for £500 or less but generally the price reflects the fact that the part is in unknown condition.
If you know for certain that engine is good with only 1k mileage then I would say it is worth what you are prepared to pay .

I'd pay £750-£1000 for it because there would be nothing worse than swapping engines only to find its little better than the one that you are replacing. Saying that for £1000 to £1500 you can get a whole car with a good engine and have all the other spares to keep or sell,[;)]
