S2 interior trim

ORIGINAL: wayne1

I am changing from cream seating and carpets with navy blue trim ... to black seating and black plastic trim.
Crumbs, why? The linen leather interior in my S2 is lovely, in my opinion - it makes the car seem a lot lighter and more spacious. 944's with black interiors always seem desperately claustrophobic in my experience ...

Oli.

The reason for changing from leather linen to black is one of upkeep. I think it far easier to keep black looking nice than cream, especially the carpets.

Here are the photos of the rear cards spoken about. The original trim is photographed underneath the attempted replacement. The replacement was taken from an early model, probably a square dash. Sojust to recap my initial question was what year of car would have rear cards exactly the same as the one photographed in the background.

The change-over from old-style interior to new-style oval-dash is hard to pin down, and I'm happy to be corrected! It was "model year 1986", or 1985.5, which, for Porsche, began September 1985 after they returned from the summer factory shutdown.

Any 944S, S2, turbo or 2.7 Lux will be oval dash. A 2.5 Lux from '82-84 will be square-dash, one from '86-on will be oval-dash. The '85 cars can be either.

You might also need to factor in the later cars with split rear seats, I don't know if the mounting points are different, and the same with rear seat belts between lap belts and three-point. Have you tried the experts like Elliot or Alasdair? They should be able to at least advise you if they don't have the right part in stock.

Thanks for that Paul, My S2 doesn't have split folding seats, it's a 1990 model but i'm guessing that anything probably between 1987 and lets say 1990 would be the same. By the way didn't I do well posting photos

i have a lot of the black carpet/trim your after. just stripped the interior from my 1986 turbo ready for track prep. and have the majority of what you need on the shelf. pm me
thanks

No not really Paul because although I remember the milk monitor age I never made the grade when I was in school. It was a bitter pill to swallow at the time.

My split rear seats have the same cut out as your blue card, so I would say any oval dash car should work. But if they had split seats then the blind is different so the cards would have an extra whole for the blind to fit into, this might look odd with yours as I'm guessing your blind is attached to the back of the seats??
