S2 FPR

Mine has just screwed its FPR!

Its the same as the S2 on this car - Porscheshop are the only ones listing it in this country at £125 - most are half that.

Only car I can find sharing it are the Audi 4.2 V8 - so no cheaper there!

Any suggestions?

Are you sure its the same as the S2. I thought it was the same as the 2.5? I have one from a 2.7 in my garage somewhere I'm sure.

James - Thanks - early 2.7s run at 3.5B like the S with the clamp on fitting, but the later ones run at 3.8B like the S2s, with a screw on! Mines a late one!

Nick - Thanks but but I'd get a new one at that price.

For me too. Mine is a very late 2.7l and Id be curious to know where are series numbers are in relation to each others. For that sort of money Id be looking at an adjustable part, I think. Used FPRs never make sense unless theyre virtually being given away, or unless theyre almost new.

02979 is the dividing engine no .

Mine is actually earlier but I know it has been changed, so I'm going on the screw fitting and that its. G plate , so late.

As far as I know, there are 2 pressure ratings for fuel pressure regulators :
- 2.5 bar : 2.5 8V (from 1982 to 1991)
- 3.8 bar : 2.7 8V (1989), 2.5 16V (from 1987 to 1988), 3.0 16V (1989 to 1995)

I looked recently using the bosch p/no and couldn't find it much cheaper than that, so I'm afraid you're a bit stuck

If you decide to go the adjustable route I can reccomend FSE. Not sure on the fitting for an S2 but they do a kit for the Turbo that has served me well for a long time now. Adjustable from 1-5 bar, IMHO critical for a modified Turbo to get that little extra from and to be safe. Remember you'll need a fuel pressure gauge to set it up or you could do as I have and have a fuel pressure gauge fitted in situ to ensure the pressure is always correct.
My son has a pressure gauge kit if anyone close to me needs help setting up , can't promise on his availabilty though as he's a busy young man but I'm sure if asked nicely he'll help out.

Tom , you need to add this one for more complete list:

3.5 Bar
Porsche 944-S, 2.5L DOHC 16V, 190hp
Bosch # 0 280 160 263

Are you sure Simon?

PET shows the 2.7's went from 04 to 06, 06 being a 3.8 bar as shared with the S2/968.

Do you think pressure went up from 3.5 to 3.8 bar on the 2.7 about halfway through the '89 model year?
I thought the difference came just from the threaded connection thing?

i thought you said porschapart were £125 and the only people in the country with one? i based my price on halfing that quote plus delivery? did i misread? only basing my price on what you said people were quoting.

Far from sure Tom. Until earlier I wasnt aware that my 2.7 used an S2 type FPR. Id always been under the impression that the 2.5l 16v Super used a unique 3.5BAR FPR though and Ive copied and pasted the part number in my post from a list that Ive had for some time (but which wasnt from PET or a Porsche document).

Nick: I dont think that you misunderstood, you were just way, way too dear. Some parts are worth good money and others worth next to nowt. Youre always going to give some stuff away and overprice other stuff until youre familiar with it all.

yeah its difficult pricing things until you have some experience of what the market is and what stuff sells for! a lot of people would think of chucking things such as the clock away, but i sold one on ebay for near £100! hence why atm if someone asks me for something, the only real idea i have of value is what others are asking on ebay etc!

Actually you may have misread: it was Porkchop who had a brand new one for £125. Porschapart (Simon Butterworth aka Buttercup) is an expensive dismantler who usually sells used parts.
