I have been doing some DIY on my latest S2
Only affordable way to keep them on the road these days !
The wiper arm had a doggy repair , so manage to get hold a decent pop off link for a tenner .
I set about removing the old unit and it just crumbled before my very eyes !!
I had a quick scan on eBay and found a second had unit with motor for 50 + Post
I then set about removing the fan box to be able to get remove the old wiper unit , and the small screws on the back of the box had rusted that bad that I could not remove them , so tried the 8mm nuts and again on the back was a pain but luckily managed to remove the air box .
These 944 are getting a little tricky to perform simple repairs !
Next small job was to check the top chain tensioner and I noticed some oil down one of the spark plug bores , so thought replace the cam cover gasket while I am checking the chain .
One of the thin cam cover bolts decide to snap , another rounded off and one came out slightly bent and out of shape !
O well just trying to get some replacements bolts so I can put it back together .
I think the chain tensioner looks pretty new ? And there are signs near the hydraulic tappet seat of damage ?
Is it the bottom slide to look out for or the top slide ?
Can I remove the tensioner whilst the chain is in place ? To check the bottom slide /
Or is the tensioner preloaded and will spring out further if removed ?
I tried to get a small mirror down the gap to check the bottom slide , but didn't have a lot of joy.
Nothing better than doing a bit of DIY on my S2 J
All tips welcome thanks .
