RUTLAND 2013

A little further from Stamford than you but so far it has just been snow flakes (albeit small ones) in Warwickshire for now. None of it is settling thankfully (I never thought I would say that!). Anyway, the fuel tank is full, fingers crossed all is well for tomorrow!

Sorry to hear your news Mr McN. Took Beaky out for a shake down this afternoon. I'm not sure I've driven him since the Cotswold Rally so felt a little strange. Aren't 944's small? Perhaps mine has shrunk along with my race suit and several of my favorite pairs of jeans. Much looking forward to tomorrow though. Camera gear packed and alarm set for silly o'clock. See y,all at the Mimms of the South.

Now don't forget what you all ordered at the pub [;)] Just leaving Northampton now, very light dusting of icing sugar on the roads here

Lovely Lunch thanks Mark :) Really good to see so many 944s out in the middle of winter and to see so many friends enjoying themselves. Good day all round, and it stayed dry. Thanks to Lin and Andy for sorting us all out! See you all soon.....

ORIGINAL: pauljmcnulty Great job again Andy, maybe next year I'll be in a Porsche. [&:]
At least you didn't look out of place parked up with the Day vans owners club (the pictures will explain what I mean) Great excuse for a drive on a chilly February morning, thanks once again to Andy [:D]

ORIGINAL: GlennS Many thanks for organising this once again, Andy! [:)]
A big ditto on that. Just got back and put my feet up. Well done for keeping the rain off. Perhaps we could have some sun next time?

Yep cheers Andy, well organised and a decent turn-out again. I may move house so I can get a longer road-trip to get there next time [:D]

Hope someone has a good shot of the two rival groups lined up like Western gunfighters? [:D] On one side, the lean, loud and lowered Germans had the advantage of numbers. But, as more and more Mazda Bongo Frendees arrived we soon felt the pressure. They were better equipped for the cold, and looked in for a long seige. Their leader slowly dismounted (that might have been due to his age), spat tobacco on the tarmac, and encouraged his posse with a rebel yell of "Morning, Bongees"". When they unveiled their barbeque, we knew we were never hard enough to take them on, and we ran for the Cafe, the warmth, and some reassuring fancy coffee and cakes. That's sort of how it happened.....[&:]

You will be submitting that for PP no doubt [:D] Great turn out guys & gals, thanks to you all for braving the cold and making it an enjoyable day, our 4th year and it all went well! No surprise meals (Tony) no forgotten meals (well just about Paul) no postponements and best of all - no rain or snow [:)] Bedford next and if you want a day with sun (why I don't know [:D]) see you in Brighton!

Tailgate returned to normal operation, as suspected one of the rods had come disconnected, good job we could get Jess out through the front, otherwise it might have been an unpleasant drive home!

Had a very enjoyable time at Rutland Water. Good to meet many people from the forum and to share a meal. However I got lost on the way back having mistakenly followed 944 owners who were heading north towards Manchester. Eventually found my way back to London without Satnav via Nottingham and the M1. Car performed well wtih nothing untoward. Hope to see you guys again.
