Rust - weld in new plate or grind out rust?

Don't show him the pictures.......

From the tester's manual.....

11 Unacceptable methods of repair

You can't accept the following bonding processes for repairs to load-bearing members:

[ul][*]gas brazing[*]soldering[*]adhesive bonding[*]fibre reinforcement[*]body filler[/ul]

I didn’t know what was going on for ages, scratching my head over structural seals????

Then I realised that Dan meant “sills” 😂

😂😂 sorry about that, I blame that on my predictive text on my phone, and I’m terrible for not proof reading through my posts becuase the kids are normally demanding my attention most of the time.

thanks “white944 “ for that info, I think as I said before and I’m sure a few will think I’m mad but I am going to tell the MOT tester what my repairs are and if he says it’s not good enough than I will be doing it all over again and probably cutting allot more out and welding in a decent size piece, if it does come to it I will have to order a sill or make one up.

probken is now is that I dont feel comfortable owning the car and having done so much to it to renew it and to then know there’s something hidden that by motor law would or is not considered right in there eyes.( if you can understand my madness or stubbaness, or stupidness is some people’s possible oppinion)

im the type of bloke if I can do it I won’t cut corners as long as it takes me I will carry through and put the work in even if it is at night once the kids are in bed. I like to feel fulfilled and do te right thing the right way. If I was in my younger days when I remember praying that my non asperated 944 would pass its MOT that’s different, I was no more than a teenager with a 944 for my first car , and all I wanted to do is go out with my friends , but now days especially becuase I can do 95% of the work I like to know what’s wrong on a MOT so I can fix it ..... if I’m making sense.

So I have more paint , we’ll i still have enough to paint the entire car so I’m most probably going to have to weld the plates in and redo it all over again😩 such is life! In a posative we’ve all learnt something which is what life’s all about! 👍😊
