??Rust on 993RSCS wing

Can anyone tell me why the bolt holes are rusting on this wing? Does it have a metal plate or is it actually a metal frame supporting plastic or is it just rust staining from the screws? Perhaps Paul may know?

Apologies only got GT2 S outside , not got an rs spoiler to go and look at ............cant remember, isnt the 'wing' bolted onto a straight 993 lid ??????thats how i remember it [GT2 is not , its almost one piece , well it is where we re referring to]

it says the plastic spoiler is mounted using oval head screws ............think thats ur answer ?

Vic, I have the literature you are referring to. The question is: Is there a nut buried into the black part in the attached image as indicated, which I suspect is the case (and therefore rusting) or the screws tap into the black bit (which doesn't sound very secure) and the screw rusted leaving the stains after they were removed. Perhaps Paul Howells may know the answer?

Maurice, still doesn't answer the question [&:]. The diagram suggests that the screws are held by the plastic wing. It does not tell you if the plastic wing has "buried" nuts in them so that screw hold them more securely - if you see what I mean.

there should be inserts inside the wing,in stainless steel.
Is it a proper numbered wing ,ie porsche part or after market like, design 911 produce.If its original wing,it was ,probably the bolts that have rusted.If its not original and they are just steel inserts,they would rust from the acidic resin.
vasalene is good to put on the screws/bolts.

Paul, the wing is made by Turnwald and with the 993 part number so definitely original. If it is stainless steel, it should not rust! What am I missing here....

Deff proper wing then!
Stainless can rust,just depends on the quality of the stainless,salt water will make it rust.
How rusty is it?
Fit some nice stainless bolts.

Several of mine were badly corroded too, I took them all out, ran a tap down the threads, then fitted stainless cap head bolts with coppaslip on the threads. The insert/s appeared to be mild steel to me.

Brass deff does not rust,just grease them up and put some stailess bolts in.
