that car would have been built for the Uk Carrera cup series in the 1990's. Specs of the cars were pretty close to standard C2'S. It will almost certainly come with a 3.6 engine. My car was built for the same series and we had to upgrade the car substantially to get it to it's current spec, changing the cage, upgrading the engine to non vario 3.8, peplacing drop links, anti roll bars etc.. thats after replacing most of the body panels and seam welding it and doing lots of other bits to it as well. To be honest, it is a fair way from being a cup spec car. To get it there would probably cost in excess of 40K.
It's a cheap track day car but it's a long way from a cup car or RS Clubsport and knowing how competitive the Carrera cup was in the 90's, it's probably had a lot of accident damage. It could well end up being a cheap track car but if could also end up costing a fortune in the long run. Buyer beware!
Steve, maybe you can answer this as its come up a couple of times. When they say built for the Carrera cup series - which series do they mean? As surely the Carrera cup only too the cup cars? I've seen a previous 964 mentinoed the same, and figured they mistakenly said cup, but actually meant some national porsche series of the day?
Also have seen the white 964 at its shake down, and at Future Classic at Snett. A really really nicely prep'd car. No idea its state now, but if you could negotiate 1/2 of Jason's 7k, I think it might be a good buy!
