Request for a pre purchase inspection

Hi Guys and Girls

I am considering purchasing one of two 911's, one in Wilmslow and the other in Knutsford.

I am based in Leicester and it is a very long way for my mechanic to get to, does anyone have a mechanic in the area that could go and check out one or both of these cars for me? I am prepared to pay, but for obvious reasons, I do not want to be buying something that I haven't had inspected.

Try John Holland at Unit 11 in Warrington (01925 852000) He rebuilt an engine for me and was very reasonable. Mention my name and perhaps I'll get a coffee next time

Is the car in Wilmslow private or at a dealer? I might know it? There is (or was) a inspector who lived in Alderley Edge - close to either locations.

FYI/BTW - John Holland lives in Knutsford so either car would be local for him. John has a good reputation within the club - ex Tech 9

One is a 1977 Silver 911 Coupe with 964 bumpers and cup alloys and mirrors and is with Auto Perform in Mobberley and the other is a Metallic Lavender (light metallic purple I think) and is an 88 911 3.2 Carrera Sport.

Seen the ad for both cars. Got to be honest, I wasn't that impressed with Chartoak last time I went there. I'll call in today to have a look at that 3.2 if you'd like? Shame it's on the Cup wheels.
The 964 'copy' looks good on the photo - it is an old car which must have had a lot of money spent on it - would you want a mongrel?

Yes quite a co-incidence. Do let me know how you get on, and if it's all clear give me a call when you're collecting it. Do get the rust spots checked out though I remember Peter Bull's saga when his 'immaculate' looking 3.2 Targa went if for a 'bit of a titivation' and came out with new inner wings, sills etc etc etc and a substantial bill.[]
If Peter reads this, I'm sure he verify not to underestimate the cost of that simple repair!
Don't mean to be scare monger - but buyer beware![X(]
