Replacing PCCM unit in 996 C4s

My apologies if I am going over old ground but my sat nav/stereo has died. Occasionally I get strange noises through the speakers as if it is trying to connect but the screen does not come on.
I have the Bose amp and Porsche cd changer in the front and Bose speakers. I don't need the CD changer but want something with tom tom sat nav/radio/Bluetooth to connect phone & touchscreen ideally.
I'm confused with those that suggest you cant buy something that will utilise the Bose amp but may be wrong.
Long journeys get very boring!

Its a bit of a minefield (and expensive one at that) so I would welcome any advice please.

I had the unit replaced with the new PCCM+ by Precision Porsche. I had the Bose system and its all working fine, very happy with the replacement. I bought from Tiele.

Cheaper options are availiable but this works very well and is the real deal.

I can also vouch for the PCCM+. Not cheap but once you have it you simply have the ultimate stereo for our cars, Porsche OEM with all the modern functionality you could want for, TomTom maps, phone connectivity, android auto, carplay, playback from SD or USB and DAB with a touch screen a little larger than a standard double DIN and communicates with your cars instrument cluster to give you audio information and navigation directions on the OBC screen as an added bonus.

you have to buy an mSD card with the maps - the unit has a second slot for a mSD with music on if you want

generally not as good as the phoen maps but worth having as a backup

Having recently installed the PCCM Plus unit in my 996, I can also vouch for how good it is.

It is quite costly however, although it’s price is comparable with the fitted price of top end stuff from Pioneer, Alpine and Kenwood.

I used to have a Pioneer AVIC F88DAB double DIN sat nav unit in mine - it is a top of the range model with CarPlay, Android Auto and built in NavTeq HERE maps. It also had a DAB radio, CD/DVD player and reverse camera functionality. My car has the fibre optic sound pack (MOST) and so the Pioneer needed a MOST interface to connect it to it. It was around £1800 fitted... but around £1000 of that was the head unit; they start at around £300 I think.

The F88DAB is a superb piece of kit but I personally prefer the aesthetics and integration of the PCCM Plus.

I’ve attached a picture of the Pioneer unit in my car (a better more cohesive installation than a lot that I’ve seen) and then will post a pic of the PCCM Plus. You can then compare which you prefer the look of.

PS. As I no longer need the Pioneer unit, I’m selling it; the interface and also the custom made plastic surround/bezel. It‘s listed in the for sale part of the forum.

Hi i'm going to install the Pccm Plus in my 996 C4S , it looks pretty straight forward but there 's a couple of leads that i'm not sure where they go , one is a small black lead with blue plugs at either end, the other is a black one with a gold rounded end with an earth tag , i presume the MOST loop goes in the back of the cd player ( is this correct )
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi, you are correct with the loop on the back of the CD changer the other leads are to bypass the antenna booster (black with gold end and earth tab) in your drivers side A pillar if you originally had a CDR radio and the other I assume is the green/blue coloured ends is the lead that goes from the radio splitter box the the stereo itself.

Hi ,thanks for the info , just to clarify that i have pccm2 unit in my car so will i still need to use the lead for the splitter box if so where is it located ?
It would help if Porsche gave instructions on how to fit but i gues they want you to have the install carried out at an OPC.

Hi, i've just installed the pccm plus on my 996 2003 C4S, in doing so the battery is not holding charge , not sure if its coincidence with me working on the car with all doors left open for a few hours or is there something on the new unit which could drain the battery ?
Has anyone else had this issue ?

Hi there, I'm in the process of fitting my PCCM+. Can i ask how you connected the antenna. The wire supplied doesn't correspond with the antenna booster on the A post and it's driving me nuts.
