I have a (2nd hand) replacement exhaust - and I'm working up the courage to replace it (given the risk of shearing bolts etc.). I've been accumulating some new toys (blow torch... nut splitters) in preparation.
Looking at the replacements, there are metal rings inset into the pipe flanges at the junctions between the different pipe sections... should these be replaced? If so how can I get them out? If not, what should I do to get a seal? Left to my own devices I'd probably go for liberal application of silicone gasket sealant. But I thought I should probably ask...?
I replaced the exhaust system on my beloved 2.8 Capri once. They (two of course!) went over the rear axle and came with Janspeed down pipes which were an arse to get in place. And didn't fit! I swore never again. How bad can this one be...
cheers,
Chris
