Replacement Exhaust C4S

Very nearly went for The Dansk super sound but i'd heard a few bad reports on them so I decided to go for the Milltek .

i had RPM replace my rusting exhausts with a Kline system - very nice - very loud.

not switchable but thats ok with me!

FWIW I had a new OEM switchable PSE put on my C4s by an OPC nearly a year ago. Okay it was a bit pricey but so pleased with it and its warranty plus proper button on the dash!!!!!

Price Reduced to £1400 must be a bargain

Hello all, I have a full DesignTec valvetronic system including, high flow headers and 200 cell cats for sale.
Complete with IPD plenum and 82mm throttle body.
The Kit was fitted in 2018 to MY2004 996.2 C4S cabrio for approx 600miles, Due change in circumstances the car had to go and I took the kit off. Dyno testing before and after indicated +18bhp valves closed 24open. Quiet for the neighbours, fabulous on the open road!
Cost new from Design911 was over £3000 for sale at £2000o ono. Now £1400
Some interesting observations from Dyno re air filter performance.
thanks for reading
GP.

For those with a Milltek exhaust - are you happy with the change? How does it sound compared to the OEM exhaust?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark , yes I can confirm after fitting a Milltek system to my C4S it sounds Great , Not to loud but just enough when you open the taps ??

regards
Mark

Hi Mark,
Mine was fitted pre-purchase, but as you may have seen above, what I like about the Miltek is:
Looks. Looks fare better from the behind, than the PSE IMO, as two fatter pipes, than the orginal
Noise. Although it isn't switchable, it purrs on idle and isn't offensive at low revs. Sounds great when it gets going

I don't have much to compare it to, noise wise admittedly, but I'm happy :)

Mark

Had mine changed to Miltek last year. Nice burble at low revs, quiet (fish) on motorway and sounds great when going

I fitted Miltek silencers to mine this weekend. They seem pretty decent quality as you’d expect from Miltek. They are very loud compared to the standard system. I certainly would not want it any louder. The noise is quite quiet cruising along but it kicks straight in as soon as you touch the throttle, even a little. It’s possible to drive about without making much noise but you’d probably have Nissan Micras trying to overtake you’d be going so slow.
Fitting was a PITA tbh. Made harder by the fact I didn’t want to cut the old silencer mounting tabs but eventually I gave in and cut 1 off, the spacer was seized solid to the mounting bolt to the extent it split the spacer slightly at one end Due to the bolt expanding as it rusted. None of the mounting bolts had enough hex left on them to use a spanner so I expected a hard time.
I spent around 6hrs including polishing the exhaust tips and refitting everything. With the new bolts fitted I reckon I could change it again in about 45 mins. For how long the back lights, bumper and side heat shields take to remove. Around 10 mins, I don’t understand why anyone would leave them on, even if the car is going on ramps.
If you are planning doing a diy job I’d recommend new bolts, tip clamps and some metal tube 12mm OD with 8mm ID before you start. A Dremel with a grinding tip would probably be helpful too. I fitted new stainless bolts 2x m8 140mm and 2x m8 70mm which I’d ordered in advance With stainless nuts and washers.
I fully understand why people get quotes for 4hrs labour. Especially if the exhaust has never been off.

I recently had an MOT advisory that both original silencers on my C4S were split so decided to replace/upgrade with Milltek Sports silencers. I looked at a diy install but wisely decided to have them professionally fitted by Northway Porsche. The sound is awesome as they are fitted to Designtek 200 Cell Sports Cats. Will probably upset the neighbours if I have an early morning start!:ROFLMAO:

As mentioned in a previous post I recently had a Spyder Performance switchable stainless steel cat back system fitted to replace split OE back boxes on my C2. I can vouch for the high quality of the construction and the sound is pretty similar to OE with the valves closed and more like a GT3 with them open! There are also claims that the free flow open position gives around a 15-20 Bhp gain, but obviously I’ve no way of proving that! I believe these are quite new to the market but seem very good and was I thought a fairly reasonable £995 fitted. I can vouch for the quality of Milltek on a previous Audi S4 and also have had experience of poor Dansk quality on my old 944 where the first system we fitted on that blew all its insulation out!. Cheers Chris
