Hi,

I’m looking for recommendations to repair my front wheel arches that are showing rust at the rear of the arch.

I live in Edinburgh so any local ish recommendations would be helpful and very welcome.

Anyone other 996 owners experienced this?

Thank you.

Hi Tim,

Yes, I had the rust on front (and rear) arches addressed about 3 years ago. If it's a keeper bite the bullet and get 2 new front wings as it's easier/cheaper for a bodyshop to paint from scratch and you know it'll be good for another 20 years. Rears a bit more tricky as it depends on whether rot has set in behind the arch but according to my bodyshop it's impossible to tell until you start work. Luckily my rears weren't too bad and they were able to carve out the rot and replace with metal before painting. IIRC two genuine wings from OPC set me back ~£2K the pair (get on the Porsche Classic register for a discount!) and then it was around another £2K for the bodyshop to fit and paint. 3 years on and everything still looks perfect. Unfortunately I'm not near Scotland so can't comment on possible options
