this seems to be a bit of a debatable topic but thought i would share some info that i got today.
a chap who owns a 968 clubsport, and 944 s2 race car with a 968 engine, and a 944 turbo race car came to see me today. his s2 runs without torsion bars, with a modified rear beams that saves around 10kg over stock. its basically a hollow tube with the std ends welded back on, and trailing arm brackets welded on as well.
his other 944 currently runs torsion bars and some trick coilover suspension, but he is chaging the setup to bin the torsion bars as he says it handles much better without them.
i have heard from other people not to remove the torsion bars ? although this chaps experience with many different setups with porsche 944/968 seems to give a good argument to bin them if the rear beam is modified
anyone else have experience with or without? pros and cons etc
many thanks
