Engine is a air mover, so you need more air in, and then need to get that extra air out, a remap will fuel it correctly after you have managed the former and latter.
I got 345BHp from my 987.1 btw ;-) but that was with 996 GT3 Throttle intakes and new exhaust systems with less cats.
the gen 1 Cats are split 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. one needs to have the 2 rear ones removed all together.
As D says, a DME remap may only give you 15 - 20 bhp ( http://www.softronicsoftware.com/porsche-987-cayman-performance-software/ )....if you're lucky.
You mentioned that you've sourced a modified exhaust but you'd need to upgrade the exhaust manifold and intake filter, throttle body and plenum to get any real benefit from the remap.
Whatever route will be costly. Maybe you'd be better off saving up for a turbo'd 718 which will be much more amenable to relatively cheap tuning.

here is my 987.1 dyno, the flat dead spot is an issue as it is in most new cars now for cheating co2 figures.
but my tuned figure is great and is tried and tested 1000's of time on the 987. 1 platform.
my dyno is from a indy who did not know I changed anything on the car, so not a fix.
great gain on the 295 BHP gen 1 cars.
About £4.5k to do, and not worth doing any one mod, as we have said it's about moving air so every thing is needed to get the BHP/
each mod on it's own nets you 5bhp lol
although the easy mod is to remove the 2 rear cats, as that give you 10bhp and removes a bit of the dead spot.
