Hi everyone, sorry Mark I don' t get online as much as I should. Something different this time. I have noted that new models of car makers often carry the company number, AML 1 for Aston Martin, EF 1 or 2 for Ferrari for example, why 911 HUL for Porsche?
Happy motoring, JJ

911 HUL dates back to the mid 70s. I have a test of a 78 SC and a 79 SC with that number.

In the early days they had a series of 911 plates:

FGX 911C:
GVB 911D: 1965 911 now in the display at Cornbury House
OLC 5E: 1967S (I have the ' 67S that was originally OLC 9E)
OYT 911F: 1968 911L Sportomatic
VVB 911G: 1968 911E
CLA 911H: 1970 2.2S
HME 911K: 1971 2.2E
MYM 911L: 2.4 911T

Thanks for your info Nick, my point was not the 911 bit, it was the HUL bit. Is there any connection with the Porsche family for instance?

Rolls/Bentley have had 1800 TU for years, I don' t think it means anythhing particular, it' s just easily recognisable,

I always liked the sequence they had at one point:

THE 924S
THE 944S
THE 928S

Affixed to the appropriate models. Very nice and worth a bit now I should think!
