I am now the proud, manicaly grinning owner of an RS....picked it up today from those nice chaps at Strasse.....fantastic....if a little warm.

Do I now need to register in the Register. Is there something formal I need to do....you know.....rolled up trouser leg, stand on one leg etc etc etc.

Once again thanks for all your advice and guidance....I'm now hunting out GT3's to harrass!

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]Great cars but you will have to pedal like **** to keep up with a GT3 especially on track. The only person that can drive one anywhere near the pace of a GT3 is Mark Gorham. Even then he gets left behind once a straight bit appears. Spent a session in the pasengers seat at Le Mans (AUTOTRACK) recently and it was stunning. The car had to be thrown through the corners and max attack on the kerbs whereas the GT3's were a little bit more controlled. If you get a chance to ride in the Mark Gorham passenger seat do so. Look out for the reg number 911 RS.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]Sorry about the quality of the picture attached to the previous post. The original is superb but had to be mullered to get it down to size acceptable for download.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Paul, Just getting dialled in to it and it is awesome......some much easier to drive than the 996.....just fantastic......what are the details of that oulton day you talked about...if i can I will come!
Gary, I'll certainly try to get a ride with 911RS and see how its done...thanks for the tip....looking forward to getting in track and getting stuck in... though from what you say may need to invest in some spare wheels/tyres if I'm going to be kerb hopping to keep up...also I noted with interest the 997 cup post in the gt3 forum...I've got some deposits down on 997's (spec'd a C2S for Jan delivery last week...though having had this RS I'm losing interest quickly) and rather fancy a 997 RS/GT/Cup...as the man in hte know any idea when these will be available?

Sorry Paul...yes I am a PCGB member....and yes I've got a tanker parked up outside the house to save on filling up time [8D]

Congratulations James. Do have fun, but a word of warning. You may have already been advised that it is a far too common experience for drivers to over-rev their engine by missed and fluffed gear changes in RS's on track.

Maybe its people just getting used to changing gear with the right hand, in which case you wont have a problem with your RHD car. Maybe see you on track.

PaulRSR, thanks very much...and yes I've seen that warning and it was one of the reasons I decided on the soft option..... don't suppose there's any way to mitigate or reduce the problem except time, care and caution?.....is the problem anymore prevelent with RS or is it a general problem with Trackday exuberence....I don't see the the Maritime blue up on your site yet? Are you planning any in track activities anytime soon?

I think it's probably a track day exuberence thing because it's not limited to 964 RS's.

The seller I was telling you about regarding the Maritime Blue car has now advertised it privately on Piston Heads. It now makes it difficult for me to advertise it for him. You have the Red one now anyway, so not to worry.

I've got no UK dates planned, but I tend to do things fairly late on that front. I'm planning to try and make the RMA trip to the Ring later in the year though.

Yep the 964 RS is much more difficult to drive at the limit than the more easily controlled GT3 this is what makes the 964RS so much more of a challenge(to my own mind). In terms of lap times I would guess a standard 964RS against a standard GT3 is about 10 secs a lap slower. Which in a race is lots but on a trackday is no big deal or of any consequence. Then of course there are modded versions of both cars..... Which you prefer is far more personal and probably less to do with overall lap times or pure speed. I'd love to own both but until I win the lottery I'll stick with the 964RS.

I am always flattered that the 964RS is compared to the GT3 here and several Magazine articles, one article in GT Purely Pork (which Mr Bullen participated) put the 964RS ahead as a better drive as well as many others.....I DO LIKE THE GT3 but prefer a ride in a 964RS I find it more*#~@"**gulp......involving.........[&:]

Hi Des

Back on the subject of registration, do you need some details from me to register the car? Also, are you able to provide a PCGB insurance valuation as I have an agreed value policy. Insurance co says it needs to be done by a club official and on headed note paper. I have some pics etc, can you let me know and I'll e-mail or post them to you.

Thanks

Melv holds all Register details and is away until 25th, however e-mail him your details and full spec of the car inc, chassis number, engine number RHD, Mileage etc etc etc...for his return...I'm sure he will be able to give you the valuation as required.

Are you doing the 27th August Track Day?

I couldn't make 27th unfortunately but am at Brands (Indy) on 23rd August with Heritage.

Regards
